It’s safe to say the last six weeks have been stressful and tough for everyone. I am so thankful that I have stayed healthy, and my loved ones have stayed healthy. My heart goes out to everyone affected, whether you or someone you know fell ill with the virus, you were laid off, your classes […]

This past summer I downloaded the app, Hopper. Soon after setting travel alerts for different destinations I’d like to go to, I had a notification pop up one day. “Fly roundtrip to Rome, Italy for just $312”! I thought it was too good to be true and probably 30hrs of travel or a bad airline, […]

Last July I went to Tulum, Quintanaroo Mexico and had the BEST trip with my dad! We wanted to do a father daughter trip somewhere fun and both had never been to Tulum and were in need of a relaxing vacation. Whenever I travel I do pretty extensive research beforehand of the best places to […]

Hi TCU Seniors!! This is a guide of my personal and experiential advice to making the most out of your graduation photos. As many of you know, I provide a purple cap and gown for my Texas Christian University senior clients to use at the shoot! However, there are a few other things you can […]

January 19th, 2019 was a huge day for me. I have been a second shooter at weddings for Ted Parker, Michael Thomas, and Lindy Michelle, but this was my first full-day wedding shooting as a main photographer. My friend, Courtney Cope and I decided to try to book a wedding together to expand our portfolio and […]

Hello there! I’ve decided to start blogging about my adventures being a photographer. I’ve been taking photos almost as long as I can remember. It started when I was about 12 years old and recruited my friends to recreate “high fashion” photoshoots with our pink glitter lip gloss and a wrinkled sheet back drop. The […]
Kauai Travel Guide We spent a week in Kauai for our babymoon, and it ended up being one of our favorite trips ever. If you’re looking for a destination that combines adventure, relaxation, incredible scenery, and amazing food, Kauai truly has it all. Unlike some of the more developed Hawaiian islands, only about 3% of […]

I’ve visited Italy nine times, but my first trip to Sicily completely surpassed my expectations. I spent a week there on a FAM (familiarization trip), exploring as much of the region as one itinerary could possibly hold. Even with a packed schedule, I truly got to immerse myself in the island’s landscapes, people, culture, and […]

For our anniversary this September we packed up the car, turned up the playlists, and drove from Dallas to Santa Fe for a weekend we’ll never forget, one full of red rock views, crisp mountain air, great food, and dog-friendly fun. It was our first time in Santa Fe and we absolutely loved it- from […]

I just spent two incredible weeks exploring Northern Italy, and I can honestly say it was the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and breathtaking scenery. My journey began with a week on the sparkling shores of Lake Garda, where I wandered through charming lakeside towns, indulged in gourmet meals, and enjoyed boat rides on the […]

If you’re dreaming of a tropical escape where the beaches are straight out of a postcard and the vibe is relaxed and welcoming, Turks and Caicos is the perfect spot. This little slice of paradise in the Caribbean is made up of 40 small islands (though only a few are inhabited), and it’s all about […]

My husband and I took a trip out to Jackson Hole, Wyoming this December and it was the perfect couple’s weekend getaway! Jackson Hole is a popular destination year round- with hiking, biking, horseback riding, and more in the warm months and of course the world-class skiing and snow activities in the winter. There’s direct […]

It’s safe to say the last six weeks have been stressful and tough for everyone. I am so thankful that I have stayed healthy, and my loved ones have stayed healthy. My heart goes out to everyone affected, whether you or someone you know fell ill with the virus, you were laid off, your classes were moved to online and you didn’t get to have goodbyes with your friends and professors… It saddens me to know there are so many families out there in difficult living and financial situations because of this. I am also so thankful for all the first responders and essential workers that have been risking their own health to continue serving the community, whether it be saving lives at the hospital or stocking shelves at the grocery store. There hasn’t been a single person that hasn’t been somewhat affected by these times.
Personally, I struggled to stay positive. Some days I felt productive and motivated, worked on building my new website, and tried to stay inspired, but other days I couldn’t even think about it and just binged watched Netflix. And that’s all okay. Photographers and other self-employed creatives have had it pretty bad, losing 6 weeks worth of photoshoots during the busiest season of the year was devastating. As some of you may know, 2020 was the year I decided to take my business full-time. I was so excited to build my brand, have my most successful year yet, travel, and have more time to just create. Come March, all these plans were shattered and I realized I would have to face the facts that I would have a big set back this year.
Even though the year hasn’t gone as planned, I’ve now learned to focus on the positives and have hope for when it is all over. I was able to spend time with my family that I would have never had otherwise. I was able to bake macarons with my mom, get great business advice from my dad, and watch funny TikToks with my brother. I was able to soak up the sun outdoors and just relax. I was able to Zoom with old friends more often and keep up relationships. I was able to connect (virtually) with other photographers more than ever and build a support system for each other. Although many shoots were cancelled, many were re-booked. I’m so thankful for my clients that have been willing to work with me through this and support a small business like mine. Now, we still aren’t sure when all of this will be over, but I’m so excited to get back out there and take photos and continue doing what I love.
Here are some photos of me taken back in February by my friend Madeline Faye:
