I’ve visited Italy nine times, but my first trip to Sicily completely surpassed my expectations. I spent a week there on a FAM (familiarization trip), exploring as much of the region as one itinerary could possibly hold. Even with a packed schedule, I truly got to immerse myself in the island’s landscapes, people, culture, and […]

For our anniversary this September we packed up the car, turned up the playlists, and drove from Dallas to Santa Fe for a weekend we’ll never forget, one full of red rock views, crisp mountain air, great food, and dog-friendly fun. It was our first time in Santa Fe and we absolutely loved it- from […]

If you’re dreaming of a tropical escape where the beaches are straight out of a postcard and the vibe is relaxed and welcoming, Turks and Caicos is the perfect spot. This little slice of paradise in the Caribbean is made up of 40 small islands (though only a few are inhabited), and it’s all about […]

My husband and I took a trip out to Jackson Hole, Wyoming this December and it was the perfect couple’s weekend getaway! Jackson Hole is a popular destination year round- with hiking, biking, horseback riding, and more in the warm months and of course the world-class skiing and snow activities in the winter. There’s direct […]

About a week before this trip, two friends and I were joking about seeing Taylor Swift in Europe. A few hours later flights and concert tickets were booked to see her the following week in Lisbon! We were able to find great flight deals with a connection in Paris for only 65k points roundtrip. Many […]

My husband and I got married in Tuscany this September, so Puglia was the perfect honeymoon destination for us. It’s been on my bucket list for a while now as I’ve visited most of the popular destinations in Italy, but had never ventured down to Puglia. You really need at least a full week to […]

I’m finally getting around to sharing the details of my bach weekend in SLO (San Luis Obispo)! When my maid of honor, Erin, and I were looking for a bachelorette destination, I told her I wanted somewhere with cooler weather (in late July), where we could all stay in one house, do wine tastings, have […]

I had the pleasure of photographing and filming Alexis and Evan’s luxurious elopement in Positano on the coast of Italy! I did their engagement photos in Dallas at a beautiful vineyard about a year ago, and that’s when I found out they were planning to get married in Positano! I was planning a Europe trip […]

I just spent two incredible weeks exploring Northern Italy, and I can honestly say it was the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and breathtaking scenery. My journey began with a week on the sparkling shores of Lake Garda, where I wandered through charming lakeside towns, indulged in gourmet meals, and enjoyed boat rides on the […]

We spent a week in Kauai for our babymoon, and it ended up being one of our favorite trips ever. If you’re looking for a destination that combines adventure, relaxation, incredible scenery, and amazing food, Kauai truly has it all. Unlike some of the more developed Hawaiian islands, only about 3% of Kauai is developed, which means you’ll spend most of your time surrounded by dramatic mountains, lush tropical greenery, waterfalls, and untouched coastline. Every drive feels scenic, and there is a sense of peace and tranquility that makes it the perfect place to slow down and enjoy island life.
One of my biggest recommendations is renting a car, preferably a Jeep convertible. Kauai is an island best explored at your own pace, and driving with the top down while winding through the island’s green landscapes was one of our favorite parts of the trip.
If you’re visiting for a week, I highly recommend splitting your time between the Hanalei and Princeville area on the North Shore and the Poipu area on the South Shore.
The North Shore feels more remote, rugged, and quintessentially Kauai. Hanalei is a charming beach town surrounded by towering emerald mountains and waterfalls. This side of the island is home to some of Kauai’s most dramatic scenery, incredible beaches, and easy access to hiking trails and outdoor adventures. The atmosphere is laid-back, local, and incredibly picturesque. We especially loved waking up to mist-covered mountains and spending our days exploring beaches, hiking trails, and small local shops and restaurants.
The South Shore offers a completely different experience. Poipu is known for its sunny weather, luxury resorts, beautiful beaches, golf courses, and excellent dining scene. Since Kauai’s weather can vary significantly between the north and south sides, staying in both locations allows you to experience two distinct sides of the island while minimizing long drives. The South Shore is also ideal for relaxing by the pool, enjoying oceanfront dinners, and taking advantage of some of the island’s best resorts.

For a luxury stay on the North Shore, 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay is hard to beat. We stayed here and it was absolutely worth the splurge! The property overlooks Hanalei Bay and offers some of the most breathtaking views on the island. The wellness-focused atmosphere, beautiful design, and peaceful setting make it an ideal choice for couples, honeymooners, or anyone looking to completely unwind.

Located in Poipu, the Grand Hyatt is one of the most iconic resorts on Kauai. With sprawling pools, lush tropical grounds, oceanfront views, and multiple dining options, it feels like a destination in itself. If you’re looking for a classic Hawaiian resort experience, this is an excellent choice. The beach access is Shipwreck Beach- which was our favorite on the trip. It was fun to sit and watch the surfers and had beautiful turquoise water.
Koloa Landing is another great South Shore option. The resort offers spacious accommodations that all include kitchens and one of the most impressive pool complexes in Hawaii that is great for kids and families.
A boat tour along the Na Pali Coast is an absolute must. The towering cliffs, sea caves, waterfalls, and turquoise water create some of the most stunning scenery in Hawaii. We highly recommend Capt Andy’s Boat Tours, which offers an unforgettable way to experience one of the most inaccessible and breathtaking parts of the island.

Haena State Park is home to some of Kauai’s most beautiful hiking trails and beaches. The scenery is spectacular, with dramatic coastline views, lush jungle landscapes, and crystal-clear water. Be sure to reserve permits in advance since access is limited and reservations often sell out. If you want to self drive you need to book a parking pass exactly 30 days in advance. Otherwise you can also book a shuttle into the park but this also must be reserved in advance.

Often called the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” Waimea Canyon is one of Kauai’s most impressive natural attractions. The colorful canyon walls, deep valleys, and sweeping vistas are reminiscent of the Grand Canyon, but with a distinctly tropical Hawaiian backdrop. Continue driving toward the Na Pali Coast lookouts for panoramic views that are truly unforgettable. This was one of our favorite days on the island.
Kayaking is one of the best ways to experience Kauai’s natural beauty. Whether you choose the Wailua River or another scenic waterway, you’ll paddle through lush jungle landscapes that feel untouched and peaceful.

Golfers will love Kauai. Poipu Bay Golf Course offers incredible oceanfront holes and stunning coastal scenery, while Princeville provides dramatic mountain and ocean views that make every round memorable. We chose to do a golf day at Poipu Bay which has consistently been ranked among the top golf courses in Hawaii. Set directly along the ocean, the course features dramatic cliffside holes, lava rock formations, and sweeping views of the Pacific. It was also the longtime host of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, which helped establish its reputation as one of Hawaii’s premier golf destinations. Even if you’re not playing your best round, the scenery alone makes it worth the experience.

As the sun begins to set, head to Poipu Beach Park. Hawaiian green sea turtles frequently come ashore here in the evening, and watching them emerge from the ocean is one of the island’s most memorable wildlife experiences.
Poipu has a great collection of boutiques and local shops that are perfect for browsing. From resort wear and jewelry to locally made gifts and home decor, it is easy to spend an afternoon exploring the area.
We loved this place so much that we visited three times during our trip. Their fresh juices, smoothies, and gluten-free baked goods were some of the best we had anywhere. It is the perfect healthy breakfast, quick lunch, or afternoon pick-me-up.
One of the most beautiful sunset spots on the island. Grab a cocktail and enjoy panoramic views overlooking Hanalei Bay as the sun disappears behind the mountains.

Their acai bowls are delicious, but the real highlight is the view. It is the perfect casual breakfast stop before a day of exploring the North Shore.
Our favorite meal of the entire trip. The menu blends traditional Hawaiian flavors with modern island cuisine, and every dish we ordered was outstanding.

Come for the food, stay for the view. The restaurant sits directly on the water and offers one of the best sunset dining experiences on Kauai. During whale season, you may even spot whales from your table.
Known for farm-to-table Hawaiian cuisine and what might be the best mai tai on the island. The oceanfront setting makes it even more special.
A casual local favorite serving the famous mango sticky rice everyone talks about. Simple, delicious, and absolutely worth seeking out.
Located in Hanalei, this spot is famous for its macadamia nut coffee and incredible shave ice. It is the perfect afternoon treat after a beach day.
For fresh poke, don’t miss Kauai Poke Co. and Hanalei Poke. Both serve some of the freshest fish on the island and are ideal for a quick lunch.
Kauai ended up being the perfect babymoon destination because it offered exactly the balance we were looking for. We spent our relaxing by the pool or beach, hiking scenic trails, and discovering incredible food. The combination of rugged natural beauty, luxury accommodations, outdoor adventure, and laid-back Hawaiian charm makes Kauai one of the most special places we have ever visited.
