I’m finally getting around to sharing the details of my bach weekend in SLO (San Luis Obispo)! When my maid of honor, Erin, and I were looking for a bachelorette destination, I told her I wanted somewhere with cooler weather (in late July), where we could all stay in one house, do wine tastings, have a beach day, and go out in town one night. We were searching for a house large enough to sleep 16 girls and came across the cutest estate in Edna Valley, right outside of SLO! When we shared the destination with all my girls most of them had never heard of SLO, and I thought it was so fun to do a destination that most of us have never been to! One of Erin’s best friends went to college at Cal Poly in SLO so she was able to give us a lot of recommendations! It was seriously the perfect location, perfect weather, and better than I could’ve even imagined! I highly recommend visiting for your bachelorette or girls’ trip!
WHERE TO STAY:
We stayed at the most beautiful Airbnb I have ever been to, which was right in the middle of the Edna Valley wine country. It was a charming yet renovated estate built in 1906 on 2.5 acres of land. We found it to be perfectly located as it was just 5 minutes from the airport, 2 minutes to several wineries, 10 minutes to the beach, and 10 minutes to downtown. There were plenty of Ubers around so we didn’t have any issues getting from place to place. If you are going with a smaller group, another great option would be staying downtown at the cute Hotel SLO.
WHAT TO DO:
There are lots of activities to do in SLO, but here are a few we chose for the bachelorette weekend:
There are so many vineyards in Edna Valley, or SLO is just a 30 minute drive to Paso Robles if you want even more options! Since we had such a large group, we chose to visit just 2 wineries and do the last tasting at our Airbnb.
Private Chef Dinner
I really wanted one night where we could just stay at the Airbnb and all hang out, so we opted to have a private chef come cook us dinner! We used Norwood Pryor from Baby Bear Biscuits and he was very accommodating in coming up with a custom menu for the event (even providing gluten free options) and it was very reasonable pricing! He made the most amazing charcuterie boards we have ever seen as an appetizer, and the whole meal was delicious! My maid of honor had made custom menus and name tags for the dinner and the girls helped make it the cutest set up with citrus, florals, and decor.
Beach Day + Picnic
For our beach day we wanted to have some sort of picnic/lounge set up for us so we would have some shade and a comfortable place to lounge for the afternoon. We hired California Dreaming Picnic Co and they did such an amazing job! The theme of the day was Aperol Spritz so everything was white and orange. We had it set up on Pismo Beach, which was pretty crowded, but probably because it was a perfect day- 75 and sunny! We were able to walk to places off the beach to grab food too!
Night on the Town:
We weren’t sure what to expect for nightlife in SLO… but we were pleasantly surprised! We thought it might just be low key dive bars, but there ended up being so many fun bars all along one strip downtown that were PACKED! We also wanted a place we could dress up for dinner so we chose Madonna Inn’s Gold Rush Steakhouse since it was perfect for our “Material Girl” pink theme! I will say, we were definitely the most dresssy people there, but it made for great photo ops. They also had a band playing live music during dinner which was fun!
Here is a list of the bars I would recommend:
We had such a blast over our 2 days (3 nights) in SLO and I would definitely go back to visit again! I wish we had a little more time to explore downtown and check out more of the restaurants, and could add on Paso Robles for a longer trip!
