So many people ask what they should wear to their group graduation photos when they schedule larger sessions with me! Group coordination is something SO important to make photos look cohesive and pleasing to the eyes. If you’re planning a couple’s session or engagement session and have no clue what to wear, you’ve come to the right place! I always tell my clients to wear something they feel comfortable in, and bring a few options! In my opinion, neutral colors photograph the best for engagement photos. This could include denim, white, […]
I just spent two incredible weeks exploring Northern Italy, and I can honestly say it was the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and breathtaking scenery. My journey began with a week on the sparkling shores of Lake Garda, where I wandered through charming lakeside towns, indulged in gourmet meals, and enjoyed boat rides on the […]

If you’re dreaming of a tropical escape where the beaches are straight out of a postcard and the vibe is relaxed and welcoming, Turks and Caicos is the perfect spot. This little slice of paradise in the Caribbean is made up of 40 small islands (though only a few are inhabited), and it’s all about […]

My husband and I took a trip out to Jackson Hole, Wyoming this December and it was the perfect couple’s weekend getaway! Jackson Hole is a popular destination year round- with hiking, biking, horseback riding, and more in the warm months and of course the world-class skiing and snow activities in the winter. There’s direct […]

About a week before this trip, two friends and I were joking about seeing Taylor Swift in Europe. A few hours later flights and concert tickets were booked to see her the following week in Lisbon! We were able to find great flight deals with a connection in Paris for only 65k points roundtrip. Many […]

My husband and I got married in Tuscany this September, so Puglia was the perfect honeymoon destination for us. It’s been on my bucket list for a while now as I’ve visited most of the popular destinations in Italy, but had never ventured down to Puglia. You really need at least a full week to […]

I’m finally getting around to sharing the details of my bach weekend in SLO (San Luis Obispo)! When my maid of honor, Erin, and I were looking for a bachelorette destination, I told her I wanted somewhere with cooler weather (in late July), where we could all stay in one house, do wine tastings, have […]

I recommend picking some sort of color scheme for the photos, and making sure everyone sends their outfits before the shoot to make sure there is no clashing or anything too matchy-matchy. I’d suggest colors like all white, white and denim, pastels, rainbows, shades of your school color, etc. I’ve linked some of my favorite white dresses here, and some affordable white dresses here. With these different color schemes, individuals will be able to wear all different styles and accessories (you can add your own individual touch!) but the group will still look together. I prefer lighter colors vs black, but it’s totally up to you! I would also avoid super busy patterns like stripes, etc.
While it might be easy to stick with neutrals and lighter outfits, don’t be afraid of color! Some of my favorite shoots have subtle patterns or bright colors that make you stand out. As long as the tones and vibes of the colors are the same, the group shots will look united and well-put together. If you have school or sorority stoles, make sure everyone brings those! Another idea is to all wear a cap and gown! If you are doing your session earlier in the year you may purchase a gown of your school color on amazon, like this one I use in my sessions. Make sure everyone STEAMS OR IRONS their stoles, gowns, and dresses before the shoot!
One of my favorite looks are the ones unique to your school- like the jersey and cowboy boot look! It’s a little homage to colleges in the South, and it’s a great way to throw in some school spirit during your session. Anything unique to your school or friend group adds just a little unique flare to the shots, and it’s something I highly recommend! Check out my other blogs for more ideas like what props to bring and how to best pop champagne for photos!
