I went out to Yosemite in August of 2019 and it was by far the most breathtaking place where I have ever done a photoshoot. Before going, I researched as much as possible on finding the best spots at the best time of day and wanted to share! I went with one of my best friends Courtney Cope, who is also a photographer! If you are thinking about eloping or doing engagement photos in Yosemite, please inquire through my contact form to learn about my travel packages!
It is required to apply/pay for a photography permit to shoot couples/portraits within a National Park, so make sure and do that ahead of time! We stayed in the park at Wawona Hotel. It was a beautiful Victorian property with a pool, golf course, restaurant, and beautiful views all around. Staying in the park helped save us time with not having morning traffic at the park entrance. Here are some of the photos I captured at each spot:
Glacier Point at Sunrise
This was SO worth waking up at 4am. It was about an hour drive from our hotel (yes, the park is hugeee). Once you park it is only about a 5 minute walk on the trails to get to the point. Be mindful of other photographers, as it is a popular spot especially during peak visit months.
Taft Point at Sunset
The sunset here was out of this world. The colors just got more and more beautiful as the sun went down. It was also about an hour drive from our hotel and took around 30-40 minutes to hike to the point. It was a very easy hike on a path with beautiful views the whole way up! Bring flashlights for the hike back since it will get dark quickly after sunset.
